Clear Your Browser Cache

When to Clear Your Browser's Cache

Any time you don't see what you expect to see in Blackboard, you should take a moment to clear your browser's cache. The cache stores files from websites you visit in order to provide faster access to those sites the next time you visit them.

To clear your browser's cache, follow the instructions for your browser below.

  1. Launch Internet Explorer from your desktop or start menu.
  2. Click Tools from the browser’s main menu.
    (IE7 and IE8 users can also find the “Tools” menu item to the right of the “Home” icon)
  3. Click Internet Options, the last item in the list.

  4. Click the General tab.
  5. In the Browsing History section click the Delete… button.

  6. Check the Temporary Internet Files and Cookies check boxes and then click the Delete button.

    Please Note: If the Blackboard home page (https://courses.wwu.edu/) is saved as one of your Favorites, you will need to either remove it from your Favorites list or clear the check box labeled Preserve Favorites website data.

  7. Click OK to close out the Internet Explorer 8 Options window from step #5.

  1. Launch Firefox from your desktop or start menu.
  2. Click Tools from the browser’s main menu.
  3. Click Clear Recent History…

  4. In the window that appears ensure that at least the Cache and Active Logins check boxes are checked.DO NOT check the Site Preferences check box as this will reset some settings like pop-up blockers needed for your online course.

  5. Click the Clear Now button.

 

Apple Mac OSX Safari Icon Safari (Mac OS X)

  1. Open Safari.
  2. Click Tools in the left menu bar (if opened) or click on the Gear icon in the right toolbar.
  3. Select Reset Safari from the drop-down.
  4. Choose what history and other elements to clear.
  5. Click the Reset button.
  6. Exit and re-launch the browser.
