Logging into Blackboard

Faculty

Faculty at Western can login to Blackboard using their universal user name and password. If you are a new employee, you will need to have your universal account set up first before your Blackboard account will be activated. To login to Blackboard:

1. Open your web browser, then type the following address in the Location box with your web browser:
   
   http://courses.wwu.edu
   
2. Select Login. Enter your username and password:
   
   1. Username: is your universal username, the same username you use for your Outlook accounts.
   2. Password: your password is the same as for your Outlooklogin. If you are having problems with your password, you can contact the ATUS Helpdesk at (360) 650-3333, or helpdesk@wwu.edu
3. Select Login. You will be directed to your Blackboard courses page, which lists all of the current Blackboard courses that you are instructor for. To access one of these courses, simply click on the link to that course.

Students and Alternate Faculty Method: MyWestern

Students are encouraged to use MyWestern to log into Blackboard, and faculty and staff can use this method as well!

1. Open your web browser and then type the following address into your web browser:
   
   http://mywestern.wwu.edu

2. Select Login in MyWesternand the CAS login screen will appear.
3. Enter your universal username and password and press the login button in the CAS screen. You will be logged into the MyWestern application.
4. Select the Home tab or Students tab and find the My Courses channel. Courses with Blackboard icons (see pink highlighted area on screen image at right) have Blackboard courses associated with them. Click the course name to enter the Blackboard course.
   
   1. Note that you will not be able to select the Blackboard course unless it is also available (unless you are the instructor). The instructor will make the course available when they are ready for you to see it.
   2. Note also that if you have more than one course associated with a CRN (perhaps a lab course or an APA tutorial), one course will be listed in the main list and the other course will be listed under Other Available Blackboard Courses .

Guest Login (for non-WWU guests)

1. Guests will have received an email from Web Services with a username and password that is good only for Blackboard. It does not grant access to any other WWU services.
   1. If you need a Guest login for a non-WWU participant in your Blackboard course, please Request Guest Account.
2. Open a web browser and go to http://courses.wwu.edu
3. 
   Press the Login button and you will be presented with another login screen. Do NOT login here, but instead press the yellow Login for Guests button on the right side of the screen.
4. Then you will be presented with a guest login screen. Enter the credentials you were given with attention to capitalization and special characters.
