How to Request a Course (Printable Version, all pages)
- Go to http://bbrequest.wwu.edu and select:
Request a Course
- Select the term you want the course to be active in.
The page now adds "Choose your Sections" which allows you to link one or more CRNS to the course you're creating. THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT! If you link the wrong CRN or too many CRNs, you will have the wrong students or too many students in your course. Remember that you are only creating a single blackboard course with this request and although you can combine multiple sections into this course by adding those CRNs, it will mean that your 8 a.m. section and your 2 p.m. section, for instance, will share the course - same course, same gradebook, same material.
- Select the CRN(s) you want associated with this course.
- Select the Continue to Course Customization>> button and proceed to the next page of instructions.
How to Request a Course, Step 2
- Check the Course Name. If you do decide to make changes, please retain the Subject and Course Number in the beginning of the name and type your modifications in the text box.
- Select the Course Template. This tells us how to make the course - whether to copy content from an old course or to create a clean, empty course. If you decide to copy material from another course, select the drop down list and see if the course is in there. The drop down is automatically pre-filled with courses you are an instructor for. If you do not see the course you wish to use, please select "Other" and proceed to instructions on the next page.
How to Request a Course, Step 2b
If the material you wish to copy is not part of a course for which you are an instructor, follow these instructions starting with step 1. Otherwise go to Adding Instructors, below.
Copying Material From Other Courses
- First obtain permission from an instructor of the course you wish to use and submit this in writing (email is fine) to webhelp or put it in the comments section that appears later in this application.
- Select Other (Please Specify) from the drop down box as shown below.
- As indicated by the dotted line below, a new area of the screen appears when you specify Other. Please type in the Course ID in the text box provided. Note that the Course ID is usually a number that starts with B. For more information see our instructions on Finding an Existing Course ID.
