SafeAssign can slow down dramatically during busy periods. Read on for tips on how to avoid having this become a problem for your course.
Blackboard has had difficulty keeping up with demand for its new SafeAssign plagiarism-checking services. As a result, towards the end of each quarter, there is typically a noticeable slowdown in the return of papers and reports, and potentially a long backlog in SafeAssign throughput.
This list of tips should help you make the most of SafeAssign and keep your course from getting caught up in the delays.
1. Submit assignments only once.
Especially toward the end of a quarter, even if you have no feedback about assignments, once you have submitted them, do not submit them again.
2. Communicate with Blackboard Help about any problems.
If you have noticed a slowdown in SafeAssign returning assignments to you, please let us know by emailing bbhelp@wwu.edu or contacting the Help Desk at 650-3333. This will help keep us aware of any issues and we can track down your assignments if necessary.
3. For best results, submit assignments as early as possible in the quarter cycle.
If it's possible to structure your course in such a way that SafeAssign assignments are not submitted to Blackboard for evaluation during the final two weeks of the quarter, your performance results should be within the 24-48 hour turnaround that Blackboard usually suggests as the longest possible waiting time.
