Previous Upgrades

Thursday, Mar 26th, 2009: Applied a Blackboard recommended security patch bringing us to version 7.3.230.0. Also upgraded the Learning Objects add-ons (blog, wiki) to the latest security version. No interface changes have been noted in this upgrade.

Friday Dec 19th, 2008: 24 hour scheduled system outage to increase content storage area. The content storage area is where the files and documents that students and faculty upload to the courses are stored. The additional storage is anticipated to accomodate the growth of Blackboard for two to three more years.

Tuesday, May 13, 2008: Upgrade to 7.3.159.29 to fix forum search problem and a bug concerning uploading documents by the same name as a deleted document as well as an issue with database lockups. No interface changes that we could see except the fix to forum searching.

Friday, March 27, 2008: Security upgrade hotfix to prevent the unauthorized access to course content through Instructor accounts. As a best practice, if you do not recognize the sender and the purpose of a link, do NOT click on it.

September 13, 2007, midnight to 4pm: We plan to upgrade Blackboard database to SQL 2005 and the Blackboard application to 7.2.383.23. This provides two security upgrades and no interface changes that we have seen. The database upgrade allows us an easier and more robust way to provide redundancy in the case of hardware failure.

June 21, 2007: We upgraded Blackboard to version 7.2. This allows us to improve the speed and reliability of the Dashboard. This is also a first step of going to SQL 2005 which will improve our database reliability.

March 28, 2007: We upgraded Blackboard to version 7.1.467.15 during spring break.

December 20 and 21, 2006: We applied a security upgrade hotfix to the Blackboard application and performed a hardware upgrade to replace the database machine with a faster, newer computer.
