Some vendors offer academic discounts for "personal use" software purchased by university staff or students for installation on computers that they own. These purchases are personal transactions between the individual and the vendor.

By law, the university cannot coordinate or process the ordering, billing, or receipt of the goods. Although the following vendors offer employee discounts, or even free software, it is still advisable to "shop around" to find the best deal and the best software for your needs. Software listed below is neither recommended or endorsed to meet specific needs. Hopefully this information will be useful to you.

The A.S. Bookstore offers academic discounts to faculty, staff and students on a variety of software products including Microsoft and Adobe titles. A WWU ID is required for some purchases.

OpenOffice - FREE

OpenOffice.org 3 is the leading open-source office software suite for word processing (Writer), spreadsheets (Calc), presentations (Impress), graphics (Draw), databases (Base) and more.

OpenOffice programs can save files in Microsoft Office formats for compatibility with others. It is installed in WWU general university labs.

Microsoft Office 2007 for University Students
