Services offered by the Copyright Office/Coursepacks
The Copyright Office provides assistance in the following:
- Interpreting Western's copyright policy and the federal copyright laws.
- Determining whether published material is within the public domain, requires copyright clearance or is exempt under the Fair Use guidelines.
- Requesting copyright permission from copyright owners for the use of materials in coursepacks, class handouts and other university uses.
- Tracking royalty fees and processing payment to copyright owners.
- Initiation and set-up of coursepacks. Coordination of coursepack production with Copy Services and coursepack sales with the Student Bookstore.
