Printing and Poster Design
ATUS Graphics can help faculty and staff with graphic presentation materials. (If you are a student, please contact the Student Technology Center at 650-4300.) We have a large format color printer with an image area 40" wide by nearly limitless length. In addition, we have medium format (13x19") and Tabloid (11x17") color printing for $2/sheet.
We are happy to assist you with the layout and production of your poster. If you are not sure how to get started, think about these elements:
Ultimate Use: Will this poster travel? How will it be displayed? How durable does it need to be? How far away will the audience be?
Size: Sometimes determined by Ultimate Use. If you want your display made durable by mounting it to poster board or foam core, keep in mind that while poster size is limited only in paper width (42"), mounting materials come in limited sizes (32x40" is the max). Posters can be sliced into sections if necessary for travel.
Cost: Our printing cost is $2.50 per linear foot lengthwise, so a 30x40" poster would cost $7.50. The cost of mounting materials will also be passed on. If the poster has an academic purpose, you may charge to your deparment. If it is for a personal project, you will need to pay by check. Please use the e-sign web form to get started.
Powerpoint: If you create your file using PowerPoint, your poster has to be exported as a graphic format before it can be printed. Sometimes this process affects the quality of the print. If you have access to Adobe Illustrator, this is the best program you could use for creating larger prints.
Some facts about our Large Format Prints:
- The inks used on the posters are not waterproof, or even water resistant. They are water soluble. In our wet weather, this can be disastrous for transporting a poster. The Technology Center provides plastic bags. Please use care during wet weather.
- We can laminate up to 11" wide printouts. For laminating a large format print, please contact Publishing Services.
- Trimming: Rochelle will trim your poster to your specifications. For instance, all posters using the maximum paper width of 42" will print with a 1" white border around all sides. If you want the color to go to the edge, this effect can only be accomplished by manually trimming the paper.
