Energy Conservation

To comply with Governor Locke's mandate that the university reduce its energy consumption by 10%, please consider implementing the following proposed solutions:

• Turn off your monitor when it will not be in use for an hour or more (monitors consume approximately 80% of your computer system's energy).
• Turn off your computer at the end of the work day unless it needs to be on for remote access or other server functions.
• Turn off your printer at the end of the work day.
• Set up your monitor's power management feature.
• Set up your laser printer's power management feature.
• Use a dark screen saver instead of a light screen saver when your system will be idle for more than a few minutes.
