Thanks to a Student Technology Fee-funded, joint project between ATUS and the Libraries, the Wilson Library Media Desk has 55 wireless computers available for students to check-out at no cost. The Viking Union and SMATE have an additional 21 laptops available for check-out. Students can enjoy wireless Internet access and e-mail from anywhere within the wireless coverage area, including the Viking Union, Red Square, and Haskell Plaza.
Wireless Check-out
To check out a wireless laptop, bring your Western Card and a second picture ID to the Media Desk on the second floor of Wilson Library, fill out the registration/liability form, and then you're ready to go. You may then checkout wireless laptops from Wilson Library Media Desk, VU Information Desk, or SMATE Learning Resource Center (SMATE 250), for two hour periods.
Instructions for Personal Laptops
Students, faculty, and staff can also use their own wireless-compatible laptops to connect to the university's wireless network. If you don't have a wireless network card for your laptop, check one out at the ATUS Equipment Loan Desk in Miller Hall 155.
Check out a wireless network card for your own laptop computer
Students can check out one of the 200 wireless network cards for an entire quarter at the ATUS Equipment Loan Desk, Miller Hall 155, while supplies last. These cards are compatible with most Windows laptop computers.
Wireless Network Guest Account
Current faculty and staff can now check out a username and password for off-campus visitors that require wireless network access. The checkout period is through midnight of the day the account is requested.
