Blackboard Online Course Design - QuickStart Introduction
Description
The introductory QuickStart workshop is most appropriate for:

faculty who are new to BlackBoard or those interested in refreshing their skills

faculty who will use BlackBoard to post static information in support of their face-to-face classes
-
staff who want to use BlackBoard for publication of static non-academic information
Focus is mainly on the publishing of non-interactive content, and will cover basic BlackBoard functions:

how to request a course
-
configuring your course using the Control Panel
-
creating Announcements
-
uploading, or linking to, a Syllabus
-
uploading, or linking to, content in a variety of formats (documents, media)
-
using Folders to organize related content and activities
-
overview of the Gradebook functions
-
brief overview of more advanced BlackBoard functions
Course Objectives
-
understanding how to request technical support from the Help Desk and Web Services
-
understanding how to work with the ATUS instructional designer to design online teaching and learning strategies to match your objectives
-
understanding how to access COURSE CREATE and COURSE COPY requests on the ATUS web site
-
proficiency in configuring a course using EDIT VIEW and CONTROL PANEL options
-
hands-on experience with the basic functions of BlackBoard
-
a preliminary understanding of the role of instructional design in online course management
Prerequisites
Each participant should confirm that they have a login name and password for BlackBoard prior to the workshop (this information should be the same as the Novell login). If there are difficulties, please call the Help Desk at 360-650-3333 or Web Services by email. Go to Blackboard and select Login to verify you have access. BlackBoard login information is automatically generated when faculty and staff first activate their Universal Account. User name and password will be the same as your Universal Account.
