What's New

Publisher 2003 has been added to the standard Office Suite at Western. All of the Office 2003 programs contain new features with a focus on ease of use and collaboration. The most changed application is Microsoft Outlook which has a new look, added organization tools, side-by-side calendar display, and improved spam controls.

Microsoft FrontPage 2003 is no longer included in our standard Microsoft Office installation. When you install Office 2003, it will leave previously installed versions of FrontPage 2002/XP on your computer. If you would like to upgrade to FrontPage 2003, contact Software Support at 650-3159 or Software.Support@wwu.edu.

Compatibility

Backward compatibility between Office 2003, Office 2002/XP, Office 2000 assures that documents can be shared by users of all three versions. Access 2003 and Access 2002/XP use the Access 2000 file format by default. If you use Access in its default Access 2000 format, you can open and edit your database in Access 2003, 2002/XP or 2000. All editors of a shared database should use the same version.

Important Warning for Shared Access Databases
If you use a shared Access database, please use the Omit MS Access Installation that leaves the existing MS Access on your computer. Contact the ATUS Help Desk about upgrading all those who share the database before upgrading the Access application.
