Microsoft Office 2007 Compatibility Pack
Microsoft Office 2007 for Windows has a new file format for improved data and file management. To insure that you can open documents saved in the new format, Windows users should install the Office 2007 Compatibility Pack which enables prior versions of Office to open Word 2007, Excel 2007 and PowerPoint 2007 files.
The Compatibility Pack is installed in all ATUS general university labs and classrooms. It has also been installed in many campus offices. If you use Office 2000, Office XP or Office 2003 in your office or at home, we encourage you to install the Office Compatibility Pack. This is currently a Windows-only download.
Compatibility Pack Test
If you can open this Office 2007 document using a prior version of Microsoft Office, the Compatibility Pack is already installed on your computer.
The installation process will take approximately 5 minutes. To install the Compatibility Pack:
- Close all Microsoft Applications and all Outlook messages except this one.
- Click this link to go to the Compatibility Pack web page: Office 2007 Compatibility Pack
- Click the Download button located in the blue bar above the Quick Details section
- Choose Run OR if Run is not an option, choose Save, then locate the file and activate it to begin installation.
- Follow the prompts to install the software and accept the license agreement. You will also be prompted to close this message and Outlook.
Upon completion, a dialog box will confirm the successful installation.
