Publishing a Website via MyFiles

The third method of publishing a web site using is to use “MyFiles”. “MyFiles” allows students and faculty to connect to their Western files from any computer connected to the Internet. This method is useful for uploading files from computers other than at a school computer or home computer.

  1. Students can access “MyFiles” by going through MyWestern. Visit the website http://www.mywestern.wwu.edu/ and log in using your universal username and password.

  2. Towards the top of the page appears a link called “MyFiles”. Click on it.

  3. Faculty as well as students can access “MyFiles” by going to the following web page: http://myfiles.wwu.edu. Select on the appropriate box for either faculty and staff or students.

  4. After selecting “MyFiles,” a pop-up window will ask you for your login credentials. For students, your username will be in the following context: username.students.wwu
    For faculty, your username will be in the following context: username.facstaff.wwu

  5. Your password is the same as your universal password.
  6. In the page that appears, double click on the folder reading “Home”.

  7. Double-click on the “myweb” folder.

  8. To add a file into the “myweb” folder, click on File > Upload.

  9. A pop-up window will ask you to select the files to upload.
  10. Repeat this process until you have uploaded all of your files.
  11. Make sure that your homepage is named “index.html”.

  12. To view your web, visit http://myweb.students.wwu.edu/~username where “username” is your universal username.
