Changes to Login and Password Change Screens

On November 14th, 2012 ATUS will upgrade the Universal Login Screen as well as the Password Change application that you use each term to set your new password.

The new screens offer these improvements:

  • Mobile Accessibility: The page determines via Responsive Design whether a small or large device is being used and presents the appropriately sized screen.
  • Usability:
    • The screens have been tested by our usability person and can be operated by those using screen readers.
    • The screens pass visual contrast tests.
    • The input areas for username and password are large and easy to read.
    • The error messages have been simplified into real English rather than "computerese".
    • Low-vision users and others depend on keyboard tab and enter keys rather than a mouse to navigate a page. This is accommodated in the new design.
  • Branding: Branding and Colors are repeated as much as possible from the Western Home page for a homogeneous branding message.
  • Maintenance Issue: No pictures so the design doesn’t “age” and need refreshing each term or so. The screens offer a clean, fresh look.

For Developers

The CAS application itself has not changed. If your applications call CAS now, then on 11/14 you will see the new designs automatically from those applications.
