WWU Standard Web Template

WWU pages should be designed to look like part of Western. While this standard is not actively enforced we do encourage departments to adopt the standard look and feel. But how do you design a site that is recognizably part of Western, but has your own content and organization?

ATUS believes that as departmental webmasters your obligation is to provide accurate content rather than perform custom design from scratch, so we provide standard WWU templates that you can customize for your department.

Our latest standard template is based on the ATUS site - like this page. Look at it or download it. Also read our instructions for setting up the template with Dreamweaver and Contribute.

You can see implementation of the newest template on the following sites

Our template is available to any department, club, or individual and provides the following capabilities:

  • CSS-driven to be compatible with latest standards
  • Automated "page updated" field to show users how old page is
  • Special CSS for printing so that banner and navigation do not print
  • Include files provide site-wide navigation - change it one place and the whole site is updated. The header and footer are handled the same way.
  • Tailorable search tool so your users search your local site only
  • NEW! Image Gallery
