Connecting to CampusWeb

Dreamweaver | Mac | Windows 7 | Windows XP and Vista

 

 

Access is the same whether on campus or off campus with VPN.

Windows 7

1. Right-click on My Computer icon and select Map Network Drive.
2. Select Connect to a Web site that you can use to store your documents and pictures
   .
3. Select Next on the Welcome to the Add Network Location Wizard screen
4. Select Choose Custom Network Location and then Next
5. Type \\msfs-campusweb\www.wwu.edu as the Internet or network Address and select Next
   1. (from VPN, off-campus you may need to type
      \\msfs-campusweb.univ.dir.wwu.edu\www.wwu.edu and then authenticate with wwu\username )
6. Type CampusWeb as the name of the location and select Next
7. Select Finish

Windows XP, Vista

1. Right-click on My Computer icon and select Map Network Drive.
2. Select Sign up for online storage or connect to a network server.

    

3. Click Next on the first window of the Add Network Place Wizard.
4. Click on Choose another network location and click Next.
In the Internet or network address: field type:



\\msfs-campusweb\www.wwu.edu

(from VPN, off-campus you may need to type
\\msfs-campusweb.univ.dir.wwu.edu\www.wwu.edu and then authenticate with wwu/username )

5. A security alert might pop-up stating that the security certificate was issued by a company you have not chosen to trust. This is normal; click Yes in response to Do you want to proceed?
6. Enter your Universal username and password.
   1. enter your login as wwu\username
   2. Make sure that your username is in all lowercase.
7. The next dialog allows you to create a custom name for your connection. Type CampusWeb
8. Click Next to continue.
9. Click Finish to complete the configuration of your network drive.

Your network drives will now be accessible under My Network Places.

Mac OSX

Mac OS 10.5 has a bug which prevents it from connecting to campus servers. Please perform the inexpensive upgrade to OS 10.6 or use this connection string in the instructions below: smb://msfs-campusweb.univ.dir.wwu.edu:139/www.wwu.edu

• In Finder, select Go > Connect to Server.
• Type in the server address smb://msfs-campusweb/www.wwu.edu and click the connect button.
  You may need to type smb://msfs-campusweb.univ.dir.wwu.edu/www.wwu.edu and then authenticate with wwu/username )
• Enter your universal username and password. Please enter "wwu" for Domain:
  

*Note that you might need to connect twice for this to work. We are currently trying to resolve this issue.
