New Technology Hardware

With the start of the new fiscal year we have new computer models and prices for WWU from Dell, HP, and Apple.  Once again we have worked hard with WWU Purchasing to obtain the best possible pricing using the contract prices available through the State of Washington and through the large quantity purchases we make resulting in even more savings.  Computer supplier links are available at http://www.wwu.edu/fs/Purchasing/p_productpricing.shtml.

The current standard configuration desktop computer will come with 4GB of memory, an i5 processor, 250GB hard drive, and a 22” wide screen monitor and priced at $802 from Dell.  All desktop systems are Energy Star 5.0 compliant and have an EPEAT Gold rating meaning they reduce energy costs with a 90% efficient power supply, have power management options and follow higher industry standards for manufacturing that reduces environmental impact.

Apple computers seem to be increasing their presence on campus.  Student labs with iMacs that have the option of using either Windows or Apple OS are very popular. We are adding more with Phase II Miller Hall.  More offices are using the iMac and Apple laptops and even a few of the iPad models are showing up.  Check out Mac pricing at the web site by following the link under Computer Purchases.
