Software Services Manager
During fall quarter, a national search for Western's new Software Services Manager resulted in the search committee selecting our own Susan Brown, who has been with Western since 1995.
Susan's twenty years experience as a desktop software consultant and trainer began with private consulting and corporate training in the 1980s and continued with Western's Human Resources Department beginning in 1995. She joined the ATUS Training staff in 1998.
Susan has a BA in Business Administration and a Masters degree in Adult Education. She has also served as an instructor for Extended Education at WWU, and during the past two years for the Freshman Interest Groups. She brings a broad range of skills and interests to her new position, and we are very pleased that she is already working on dozens of initiatives for software support on campus.
Susan escapes quite thoroughly during weekends and vacations by playing with her grandsons and hiking and sea kayaking with husband Charlie. Contact Susan Brown at 360-650-7388, email Susan.Brown@wwu.edu or in her office, Haggard Hall 124.
Web Systems Analyst
Ernie Colantonio has joined us as a Web Systems Analyst in support of the Integrated Laboratory Network project. He has extensive web application and database development knowledge with more than 10 years experience working for the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
Ernie holds a Masters degree in Computer Science and is the author of more than ten introductory college textbooks on computers and computer applications. Since moving to the Northwest in June, Ernie has spent much of his free time on home remodeling.
For more information on the ILN project, you may reach Ernie Colantonio at 360-650-2003, email Ernie.Colantonio@wwu.edu or in his office, Miller Hall 198B.
Transitions in progress
Searches are underway for three positions in ATUS: Instructional Designer, Information Technology Specialist, and Director.
Instructional design support for faculty members who use Blackboard, PRS and other computer-based teaching methods is being provided by Michael Shepard.
Michael has a Bachelor's degree from Fairhaven and will complete his Masters Degree in Anthropology at Western during the summer of 2007. His thesis concerns perspectives on Lummi language education.
For questions regarding instructional technology and best practices, contact Michael Shepard at 360-650-2557, email Michael.Shepard@wwu.edu or in his office, Miller Hall 182.
Many thanks to Calvin Priest for his temporary (yet robust!) all-around support during these transitions winter quarter.
The Interim Director? That would be me, Rob Galbraith. Please feel free to call me at 360-650-3368 or email Rob.Galbraith@wwu.edu with comments or suggestions about how ATUS can improve or provide services to support your work at WWU.
