Title: Aiston (Peggy) - Research on Lummi Island History collection
 
Description: The collection documents the research done by Peggy Aiston on the history of Lummi Island. She conducted her research from the mid 1970s until her death in 1998, and created a comprehensive three-volume set of manuscripts entitled "Lummi Island Chronological History." While never published, her research on Lummi Island was extensive, spanning from 1519-1940.

Title: Alaska Packers Association records
 
Description: The Alaska Packers Association Records document the history of one of the most dominant forces in the commercial fishing industry in Alaska and the Puget Sound from the late nineteenth through the late twentieth century. The bulk of the records span from 1890 through 1974, documenting the growth of the industry, its technological and economic development, the geographic expansion of the salmon trade, and labor conditions. The records include administrative and financial records, production records, maps, plans, photographs, newspaper clipping files, industry publications, and extensive information relating to APA personnel.

Title: Allen (Edwin J.) Jr. papers
 
Description: The collection consists of materials related to Native American culture including an illustrated manuscript entitled "A Compendium of the Nooksack Indian Land Claims;" a computer printout and file on Pacific Northwest Studies Nooksack Bibliography Project, 1971; and Attorney Frederick W. Post's files on Indian land claims cases before the Indian Claims Commission, 1950-1963. Post represented the Nooksack, Duwamish, Suiattle-Sauk and S'Klallam tribes.

Title: American Civil Liberties Union - Whatcom County Chapter Records
 
Description: The Whatcom County Chapter of the American Civil Liberties Union records include materials generated at the national, state, and local levels of the ACLU. Some of the issues covered in the collection include: mandatory registration for the Selective Service, abortion rights, separation of church and state, sexual harassment, and criminal code reform. Minutes from a variety of ACLU of Washington (state) committees and the Board of Directors are also present in the collection.

Title: Arntzen (Edward J.) papers
 
Description: The Edward Arntzen papers contain career materials of long-time Western Washington University faculty member and former chairman of the Department of Social Studies for whom Arntzen Hall is named. The collection includes Dr. Arntzen's diploma, early teacher's contracts, social studies reports, graduate research papers, Bruce Cheever's work on Washington railroads, programs and audio tapes of the dedication of Arntzen Hall in 1976, and a picture of Edward Arntzen.

Title: Ashworth (Robert) collection on the Union of Sexual Minorities Center of Western Washington University
 
Description: Robert Ashworth, a politically active member of the gay and lesbian community in Bellingham, compiled a group of papers documenting the activities of a student association called the Union of Sexual Minorities Center of Western Washington University. The collection consists of by-laws, posters, newsletters, press releases, correspondence, budget and financial records, an audio tape of a gay symposium on KGMI radio's Impact show, and memorabilia. The collection is a rich resource for the study of gender and sexuality and gay and lesbian political activity in the Pacific Northwest region.

Description: The R. Frank Atwood papers document the political career of long-term Bellingham attorney and Washington State Senator Roy Franklin Atwood. Records include committee records, legislative information files, campaign material and correspondence reflecting Atwood’s role and interests as a policy-maker in the Washington State Senate, and his involvement in matters such as budget planning, proposals to make Point Roberts an International Park, Higher Education policy and urban development.The collection also contains a small number of files concerning professional and charitable associations and ephemera.

Title: Bacon, Crockett, and Donovan Family Genealogical Histories
 
Description: The Bacon, Crockett, and Donovan families were some of the early settlers in the mid to late 1800s in the Puget Sound area, including Bellingham and Whidbey Island. The collection includes two family histories and one memoir. The documents convey what life was like for these pioneers. In addition, the accounts describe familial relations, local industries, and the local economy.

Description: George Bartholick was an important regional architect, whose credits include the original master plan for Western Washington University's campus, the renovation of Old Main at WWU, restoration of the Whatcom Museum building, a revolutionary plan for Seattle's Woodland Park Zoo and the Pike Place Market renovation. This collection includes architectural drawings, contracts, correspondence, construction records and other documentation of his career.

Title: Bellingham Bay Improvement Company Records
 
Description: The collection includes records of the Bellingham Bay Improvement Company and its subsidiaries. The BBIC was primarily a real-estate speculative venture, which branched out into resource extraction and railroads. This collection contains the records of the Bellingham Bay and British Columbia Railroad, the Bellingham Coal Mine, the Bellingham Bay Lumber Company and the Bellingham Securities Syndicate. The collection contains ledgers, records of land sales, plat maps and extensive correspondence. The collection also includes an important and extensive selection of maps showing lands owned by the BBIC and its subsidiaries, including the Bellingham Bay and British Columbia Railroad. The collection also contains several plat maps.

Title: Bellingham Centennial Oral History Project records
 
Description: The Centennial Oral History Project entails a series of interviews conducted with long-time Bellingham residents from a diverse cross-section of the Bellingham community. The project focuses on local history through personal memories of significant events. Topics of discussion in the oral histories include local environmental issues, healthcare, entertainment, Native American issues and other ethnic and race relations, industry and businesses, transportation, and education. The Center also collaborated with the City of Bellingham to produce a video versios of several of these interviews. The interviews were conducted by James Hillegas and include conversations with George Davenport, Lois and George Garlick, Pauline Hillaire, Lenny Hovde, Jim Roberts, Betty Russell, John and Nina Sternhagen, Myrtle Molly Thompson, Dr. Arthur Watts, Margaret Watts, Jane Hovde, Gordy Tweit, and Tut Asmundson.
