| Description: The Grant Senour Photographs are composed of three folders and two photograph albums. The folders contain writings, correspondence, photocopies of photographs, various loose photographs, and a photocopied article from the Naval Aviation Museum periodical ‘Foundation’. The photograph albums contain a mix of family, military (Marines), hiking and mountaineering photographs. The listed dates in the photo albums range from 1937 to 1954, and include photos of many of Washington State’s mountains and mountain ranges including the Cascade and Olympic mountain ranges. There are also some aerial photographs of mountains and cities as well as some photographs of areas in British Columbia, Canada. Grant Senour passed away October 20, 2009. |

| Description: Archibald Williamson Shiels was both a maker and a recorder of Alaskan history and folklore, and former president of Pacific American Fisheries. His papers consist of research material, publications, personal papers, maps and charts dating from around 1790 to 1965. The documents reference a number of topics primarily related to Russian America, the Alaskan Territory, and the State of Alaska, including boundary disputes and the Bering Sea controversy regarding fur seal fishing. Other topics include Alaska Natives’ fishing rights and transportation throughout Alaska, Canada, and the Pacific Northwest. |

| Description: The Frederick E. Smith papers document the research and interests of self-trained historian Frederick E. Smith. The bulk of the collection comprises research material regarding the Equality Colony, a socialist Utopian Colony based near present-day Bow-Edison in Skagit County, Washington between 1897 and 1907. Smith’s papers include correspondence, note cards, photographs and newspapers compiled during the course of his research, as well as drafts and a final version of his manuscript, Equality Colony. The collection contains reel-to-reel audio recordings of Smith’s oral history interviews about history of the Equality colony and its members. Audio recordings also include interviews regarding the history and culture of the Samish tribe, copies of radio programs regarding the International Workers of the World (Wobblies) and recordings from international radio broadcasts. |
