Central High School

Galen Biery Collection:  Center for Pacific NW Studies Western Washington University
 The structure depicted in the right of the image was a grade school constructed in 1884 .The second building was completed five years later in 1889. In 1890, the building housed the first high school in the Northwest region. George B. Johnston was  the Principal and the school boasted an enrollment of 33 students. Today, the Roeder School stands on the Dupont Avenue site.
