Description: Group of more than fifty older women and a few men standing in six rows. Caption on reverse in ink: "G.A.R. Group" G.A.R. was the Grand Army of the Republic, a fraternal organization of Union veterans who fought in the Civil War. The women must be wives (widows) of G.A.R. vets and the few men the vets themselves. The women all wear long dresses or shirtwaists and long skirts. A few wear hats, many others hold their hats.

Description: Unidentified street scene looking toward the backs of a large crowd of men, women and children in the middle ground. In the foreground is the plank street and on the right side four streetcars in a line. Three story buildings line the street. In the midst of the throng of people there appears to be a railroad car. A banner hung across the street in the distance says "Whatcom Dem..." This could be a political rally. It may be Holly Street looking toward the Flatiron Building at Bay and Prospect Streets.

Lake Whatcom" Lake Whatcom in the foreground looking across to houses, docks, stores and school at Silver Beach. An elegant multistory gabled house faces the water on the right side of the picture. The school is part way up the hill (Alabama?) - no other buildings are above it. The hill is covered with denuded trees (spars?) left standing after their branches were cut off. The shoreline in the foreground is littered with wood.

Description: Caption on front in pencil: "Chuckanut Stone Quarry" and "poor ... dream - overcome by concrete - (will steel eventually give place to glass - 1943)" Exposed side of hill showing sand stone in various sized pieces, some being lowered by cranes. About ten men and two horse drawn carts stand at the bottom of the quarry surrounded by the stone. Chuckanut Stone Quarry began operation in 1857 and lasted until 1908. It was owned by Henry Roeder. Many local buildings were built from its stone and it was shipped up and down the Pacific coast.

Betond the buildings is water and in the background a rising land mass that may be Lummi Island, in which case this is Bellingham's railway yard.

Description: Caption in ink on sleeve: "Plywood Mill" Several low interconnected buildings at the edge of the bay. One building has a tall smokestack. There appears to be a marina just beyond the mill and a few log booms in the water to the left of the marina. Several cars from the 1940's are parked around the mill. A dirt road leads into the mill. This is Bellingham Plywood Corporation, located in Fairhaven at 9th and Harris, in a building that was 99,000 square feet. It was founded in 1941 with Cecil Morse as president and Charles Larrabee vice president, and was bought by Georgia Pacific during World War II. Plywood was big business in Bellingham. Fire destroyed the building in 1980. Description: Five men, all wearing three piece suits, sitting around a desk in an office. One man, second from the right, is writing on a sheaf of papers. The other four men are watching him. Definitely a business transaction of some sort, possibly the land acquisition in Fairhaven to create Bellingham Plywood from the Port of Bellingham in 1941. The men all appear very serious. The man in the center is Jorgen Anderson, Port Commissioner. The other four men are unidentified. The office has two double hung windows with cafe curtains and a radiator below. There is a framed picture of Picture Lake on the wall with a stack of books on a shelf below it.
