About ten men and two horse drawn carts stand at the bottom of the quarry surrounded by the stone. Chuckanut Stone Quarry began operation in 1857 and lasted until 1908. It was owned by Henry Roeder. Many local buildings were built from its stone and it was shipped up and down the Pacific coast. | |||

There appears to be a marina just beyond the mill and a few log booms in the water to the left of the marina. Several cars from the 1940's are parked around the mill. A dirt road leads into the mill. This is Bellingham Plywood Corporation, located in Fairhaven at 9th and Harris, in a building that was 99,000 square feet. It was founded in 1941 with Cecil Morse as president and Charles Larrabee vice president, and was bought by Georgia Pacific during World War II. Plywood was big business in Bellingham. Fire destroyed the building in 1980. Definitely a business transaction of some sort, possibly the land acquisition in Fairhaven to create Bellingham Plywood from the Port of Bellingham in 1941. The men all appear very serious. The man in the center is Jorgen Anderson, Port Commissioner. The other four men are unidentified. The office has two double hung windows with cafe curtains and a radiator below. There is a framed picture of Picture Lake on the wall with a stack of books on a shelf below it.
