Description: The stone building on the left is the Sunset Block. Charles Oberlatz, a tailor, occupies the basement. Not the Oberlatz sign that has been erected at the edge of Holly Street. On the opposite side of Holly, but not directly across from the Sunset Block is a white building with arched columns and arch topped windows on the second storey. This may house the Commercial Hotel.

Description: Posed in front on the Deihl & Simpson Ford dealership, (the ARCO building of the Whatcom Museum in 2003 on Commercial Street) two men are sitting in a roadster named "Betsy 2" that is about to pull a sled full of people. Back caption: " Betsy 2, a stripped-down Model T Ford, pulled a bobsled loaded with youngsters through winter snow on Prospect Street in Bellingham shortly after 1910. The car was one of the racers entered by Diehl and Simpson Ford in the Mt. Baker Marathons held from 1911 to 1913."

Description: An attached note: "The 'Catherine D' flagship of the Pacific american fisheries (PAF) fleet, was 242 feet long and could carry 270 passengers and 84,000 cases of canned salmon. The ship, which had twin scres and 1000 horse power engines, was built in 1918 at Deadman's Point (Poe's or Post Point) on the Fairhaven (Belllingham) waterfront for use in P. A. F.'s Alaska business. It was named for the gran daughter of E. B. Deming, Company President."

The man on the right is dress in a United States military uniform; above his left pocket is a pin usually worn by a Junior or Reserve Officer in the Aviation Section of the Signal Corps. The man on the left is wearing a leather flying helmet, flight jacket, jodhpurs, and high laced boots.
