Description: The Bellingham Hotel shortly after its construction. Cars parked in front of the hotel include a 1931 Chevrolet Coupe (4th from left along curb) and two (6 & 7) from left) appear to be covered with mud. The parking lot on the north side of the hotel has not yet been cleared of construction debris. The corner of the Mt. Baker Theater is just visible on the far right and in the background is an apartment building that dates from the 1880s.

Description: The first Sears Department Store at the northwest corner of Bay and Holly Streets. Several cars are parked near the building (a 1936 Ford on far right, then a 1938 Chevrolet to the left of it) and a late 1920s Ford and a late 1930s Ford are stopped for a traffic light. Steam or smoked generated by the pulp mill is rising behind the Sears building.

Description: Bellingham's "Station No. 2" was located in Fairhaven at 1110 Donovan Street, about 1905. In this photo we see the sum total of this station's equipment - one hose wagon with two horses. Five of Bellingham's 11 firemen manned the southside station. In 1927 a new building was constructed at the southwest corner of 14th and Harris.

Description: Bellingham Bottling Works at its 1121 Railroad Avenue location. (In 1912 it was in the 1100 block of Elk/State Street.) Parked in front of the Bottling Works are four delivery vehicles from the late 1930s. To the right of the Bottling works is Bellingham Machine Works and to the right of that is the four story wholesale grocery on the northwest corner of Railroad and Chestnut.

Description: A view of Bellingham taken from the "B. B. Furniture Building" looking northeast toward Lake Whatcom and the hills beyond. The Fair Department Store is in the lower left foreground: The Mt. Baker Apartments occupies this location in 2003. In the center, the site of the Mt. Baker Theater (1927), is being prepared. Boards lean against the windows of the Swedish Baptist Church, at the corner of Champion and Dock (Cornwall), to protect them from the rock blasting. The Douglas Building is on the far right and the Carnagie Library is just above that. Where Champion meets Cornwall is Diehl and Simpson's Ford showroom.

Beard, Over, Spees, Jenkins and the passer-by are standing in front of a livery stable on the north side of the 600 block of Harris Avenue. Sheppard and a small boy are on the right, standing next to a team of horses that are hitched to a delivery wagon. The sign on the delivery wagon reads, "B L & T Co. 7th & Harris. Curios & Furniture. In the foreground there are streetcar tracks laid in the mud of Harris Street. The water tower in the background is located on the grounds of the Puget Sound Saw Mill and Shingle Co.

Identifiable businesses include: The Harvey L. Dickinson Real Estate, Loans, Insurance and Warrants Company; the ware house of Wilson-Nobles-Barr Company, a wholesale and retail grocery owned by Anthony S. Wilson, Rufus L. Barr and Edward T. Nobles; The George E. Brand Company, wholesale grocery. Harvey Dickinson built the house at 1000 N. Garden. George Brand built the house at 2000 "H" Street. The retail address of Wilson-Nobles-Barr was in the 100 block of Holly Street. The street is paved with planks.

Description: A view of the north side of Railroad Avenue in the 1200 block. A large crowd is watching as a group uniformed men mounted on white horses parade by. Identifiable businesses include: The Harvey L. Dickinson Real Estate, Loans, Insurance and Warrants Company; the ware house of Wilson-Nobles-Barr Company, a wholesale and retail grocery owned by Anthony S. Wilson, Rufus L. Barr and Edward T. Nobles; The George E. Brand Company, wholesale grocery; Parker Printing Company, operated by J. C. Parker and Merwin W. Parker. The Washington Grocery Company, Inc., owned by S. A. D. Glasscock, S. A. Post, and John Trezise. Harvey Dickinson built the house at 1000 N. Garden. George Brand built the house at 2000 "H" Street. The retail address of Wilson-Nobles-Barr was in the 100 block of Holly Street. Both of the Parkers lived at 1225 High Street where Merwin was a solicitor. John Trezise, along with his wife and grown children, lived at 1214 Commercial Street; this became the home of the YWCA in 1911. Railroad Avenue is paved with planks.

Description: Back caption: "Burlington Journal (newspaper) Samish Flats. Nels Anderson Farm, Bow." The photo has a stamp "…1925" Nels Anderson was born Norway in 1871 and worked as a fisherman in Whatcom County prior to settling in Skagit County. He purchased this property in 1898. By 1906 he had 115 acres cleared and was successfully growing oats and hay and raising hereford cattle for market. (In 1906, his herd numbered 212 and his property was assessed at $2,243.) In 1899, Nels married Celia Benson of Norway. They had two children: Helen and Carl. Just to the right of the two-topped tree is Mt. Baker on the horizon
