He worked for Whatcom Railway and Light Company, a precursor of Puget Power, from 1903 until 1918. He was Chief Accountant from 1910 to 1917. In 1919 he was the accountant for Graham Drug Company; in 1934 he was with the Owl Pharmacy Co. He died in 1946. His sons, Preston and Leland, also clerked for Puget Power. | |||

Four men are posed in the doorway of the G. A. McIntosh hardware store located at 1708 11th Street, Fairhaven. The hatless man, George A. McIntosh, was the owner of this hardware store from 1900 through 1904. In 1905 he was at 1208 11th Street and in 1906 he was no longer in Bellingham. On the left is Burt W. 'Chip' Groom who worked next door at the Adams & Co. Hardware Store. Frazer Jenkins, second from the right, was manager of Bellingham Livery and Transfer, Co., in 1910. Numerous boxes are stacked on the sidewalk in front of the store. Some are labeled "Stearns Bicycles." Rakes and pitchforks lean against the storefront windows. Signs painted on the windows read: "Stoves & Ranges" and "Hardware & Cutlery." | |||

Dick Green was Curriculum Director for Bellingham School District and Superintendent before his retirement in the late 1980s. In 1929, Frank Geri was a student in Bellingham. In 1930 he started teaching in the Bellingham Schools; first in the elementary schools and finally the high school. At the time of this photo, he was also part of the physical education department at Whatcom Junior High School. He retired from teaching in 1970. In 1974, he was Recreation direoct for Bellingham and Whatcom County. He died in December 1977 at the age of 72. | |||

The 6'3" Oregonian won a career-high 14 games in 1951; he started that season with Pittsburgh, but went to the Cardinals in the seven-player June trade that moved Joe Garagiola to the Pirates. In 1952, there was a Joseph Cipriano living in Sumas. In 1953, Joe Cipriano was playing AAU league basketball with the Buchan Bakers. Frank Geri was a Bellingham school teacher and promoter of local recreational programs. In 1933, Bryan Lewis was the Whatcom High School basketball coach. Lefty Gomez was a major league LHP from 1930-43 for first the Yankees, then the Senators. Before that he played for his home town, San Diego Seals. He retired from baseball in 1943 and was elected into the Hall of Fame in 1972. He dies Feb. 17, 1989 at age 80 | |||

His wife, J.M., was born in Oregon ca 1860, and his children were born in Washington On may 1, 1890, Peter Saar's daughters, Maggie and Carrie May, married William Sleasman and Frederick Berg respectively; on the same day, his son Fred married Emma Frances Brown and he (Peter) married L. (Lucy) A. Moorehouse. In 1910, Peter Saar, age 80, is a widower living with Maggie & William Sleasman and their eight children. Peter Saar died in 1911. | |||

| Description: Back caption: " Harry Finley. 2"oval (feature) page 32." Capt. Harry Finely, spouse of Emma, was born 27 Apr 1847, died 20 Jul 1920, and is buried in Bayview Cemetery, Bellingham. Finley was born in Denmark and sailed in the Atlantic until coming to the Pacific Coast in 1864 where he ran on the schooner "Eclipse" from San Francisco to Coos Bay, Oregon. Within a year, he returned to Denmark where he remained until 1870. Between 1870 and 1875, he operated aboard several ships between Puget Sound and San Francisco before moving to southwest Washington State. In 1889, the Portland shipyards built the "Restless" for Capt. Finley which he then operated on Shoalwater Bay (now called Willipa Bay). In 1910, he was master of the Pacific American Fisheries (PAF) steamer "Callendar." He continued to serve with PAF until his death due to exhaustion at age 73. His last job, in 1919, was in the PAF sail-making shop. | |||
