Description: Unidentified schoolhouse with more than fifty students and a teacher (possibly three) beside it. Most of the students appear to be elementary school age. School is wooden verical clapboard with three six over six windows (some panes of glass missing) visible. Photo is stained and torn and appears very old. Caption partially visible on front: "Peiser...Cor. Second and marion Streets, Seattle, W.T." Must be prior to statehood in 1889.

Description: Students of various ages and probably teachers next to a wooden clapboard building with five white clapboard houses in a row behind them. Caption on reverse in pencil: "First Sehome School." It was located at Maple and Dock (now Cornwall) Streets near the coal mines at Sehome operated by the Bellingham Bay Coal Company. The school was built in the 1850's. Isabelle Eldridge began teaching there at 16.

Description: Caption on reverse in pencil: "Park, Washington." Park was a community along Lake Whatcom. It's post office moved to Silver Beach in 1911. Photo shows a few houses, a school or church and cleared land down to the Lake. A mountain is in the background across the Lake and a piece of land juts out beneath it into the Lake - probably an island. A hill rises just beyond the houses.

Propped next to it is a sign with the Bellingham Herald front page from January 1, 1936 pasted on it with the headlines: "Happy New Year - The Bellingham Herald --Fairhaven High School Destroyed" and below the Herald is written: "Genuine FRIGIDAIRE -- As it was when removed from Fairhaven High School 36 hours after the fire -- on inspection, inside temperature was still 43 -- Food perfectly good -- Ran perfectly without any adjustment or attention.
