Description: Caption on reverse of postcard in pencil: "Bucket used to go from Mill to Red Mt. Mine" and in ink: "Mrs. Hipkoe." Bucket suspended from wires strung from a tall wooden tower. Mountains are visible in the background and tall evergreens in the foreground. The Red Mt.Gold Mine (Boundary Red) was located on the northeast face of Red Mountain, directly above Silesia Creek and the Chilliwack River in Canada. The mine was at 4050 feet and operated from 1914 until 1938. The mill buildings were eventually destroyed by avalanches in the 1940's.

Chairs are placed by the columns. Beck's Theatre (also known as Beck's Opera House) opened December 13, 1902. It seated 2200 and was located at 1310-1316 Dock Street (now Cornwall). Description: A room in an unidentified museum. Three rows of display cases containing artifacts and rock samples are in the center of the room. A small five masted sailboat is displayed at the end of the room with a wooden canoe propped on the floor beneath it. What is probably an American flag hangs on the wall behind the sailboat; only the stripes are visible. More display cases are under the windows and line the walls of the room which appears to be two stories high with windows on both levels. A large (stuffed?) peacock stands on top of one of the display cases. Pictures and plaques are displayed in and on the cases. Clothing of undetermined origin is displayed in one case.

Description: Fairhaven & Whatcom streetcar number 74 with two unidentified conductors standing beside it and two passengers, one at the front exit and one at the back. The Fairhaven & New Whatcom Street Railway started operation in 1892 and ran between Silver Beach and Fairhaven. Streetcars were discontinued in 1939. The roof of a house is visible behind the streetcar.

Description: The Bellingham Hotel (now Bellingham Towers)seen from the intersection of West Champion and Grand Streets with the Hotel Rockwood and Peoples Market below it and two Model A cars parked in front of what is now Mt. Description: A group of people standing on the railroad tracks watching the Pacific American Fisheries building on fire. The fire does not appear to have rached the front part of the clapboard building. A fire truck is in front and a ladder is propped against a window in the section of the building where smoke and flames are visbile. This PAF building burned in 1934 and was replaced by a brick building.

Description: Gravestone of James Tilton Pickett, Born December 31, 1857, Died August 28, 1889. A small marker sits in front of the gravestone with the initials J.T.P. on it. Trunks of trees with leafed branches hanging down consume the space on either side of the gravestone. Looks more like a drawing than a photograph. In the foreground is a branch with eight leaves; beneath the leaves the letters "ARC BII" are visible. Stamped on reverse: "Clyde Banks Photo Service, Bellingham Washington" James Tilton Pickett was the son of General George Pickett and his second wife, a Native American, who died when James was young. He was raised by Isaac and Catherine Collins who were chosen by General Pickett because they were childless. James is buried at River View Cemetery in Portland, Oregon. He was an artist who worked for the Seattle P-I and the Oregonian newspapers.

Description: Caption on front in ink: "Kulshan Club, S. Bellingham" and "Sprague." On reverse in ink: "Biery Collection - Kulshan Building - Extreme left is building of Montague & McHugh Dept. Store. Later built the 'Bon Marche' building on Magnolia & Commercial Sts. The Apollo movie house was also housed in the Mont. & McH building at 11th & Mill, S.E. corner. The Kulshan Building was later moved down hill to make room for Finnegan Way. The Apollo movie house was operated by Ed. Haubrock." The Kulshan Club, a men's social club, was built in 1909 for $5000 and was located at 12th & Columbia Streets, directly across from the Fairhaven Library; later it was moved down hill when Finnegan Way was built. Today it is an apartment building wedged between Fairhaven Gardens condos and a small strip mall. See also photos 532 and 533.

Description: Caption on reverse in pencil: "Cont 691 - Laurel St Fill - Bellingham, Wn" Looking across the bay to a lumber mill (probably Puget Sound Timber Co.) on the fill land that extended Laurel Street. A three-masted ship is tied at the mill; a log boom extends out into the water. A tower in the middle ground has the name of the company written on it but it is illegible. In the foreground several other harbor operations are visible at the water's edge, looking toward Laurel St.
