BELLINGHAM – Job seekers looking for ways to connect directly with employers are invited to attend Western Washington University’sWinter Career Fair from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 9 in the Viking Union Multipurpose Room. The event, sponsored by the WWU Career Services Center, is a major recruiting event where students and the general public can meet hiring managers from a broad range of private-sector companies, non-profit organizations and government agencies. Admission to the fair is free. Participating employers includeBoeing, Microsoft, Seattle Police,Target, Expedia, Peace Corps, Weyerhaeuser, Washington State Parks and Recreation Commission, the National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration’s Northwest Fisheries Science Center,and many more. TheWinter Career Fair provides job seekers with an invaluable opportunity to network with employers. Students and alumni of all majors can discuss job openings and internships. For those uncertain about career goals or options, theWinter Career Fair is an excellent resource for conducting research in the job market. To make the best impression, job seekers should bring resumes, research the companies in advance and dress in business attire. A free workshop, "How to prepare for the Winter Career Fair," which teaches skills in approaching employers, will be held at 4 p.m. on Thursday,Feb. 2and at noon on Monday,Feb. 6. Both sessions will be held in Viking Union 567. For a parking permit or information, please stop at the south campus Visitor Center, open from 7:15 a.m. to 8 p.m. weekdays. There is a $2 hourly charge for parking from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. No permit is required in (south campus) gravel C lots between 5 p.m. and 7 a.m. weekdays, or on weekends. There is a $1 an hour charge for parking after 5 p.m. and on weekends in designated lots, which have blue machines that accept cash, coins, or credit/debit cards. There is no additional charge in these lots for those displaying a valid parking pass or a Viking XPress bus pass after 7 p.m., with the exception of lot 6V (Viking Union) where payment is required at all times. Parking meters at various campus locations cost $2 an hour, 24 hours/7 days. Faculty are reminded that reserved parking spaces are available for their use after hours and weekends with a valid parking permit or bus pass, as posted in lots 10G, 17G, and Parks Hall. |
