BELLINGHAM – A Transportation and Parking Fair will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Tuesday, April 4 at the Viking Union Multipurpose Room at Western Washington University. Western students, faculty and staff and members of the community are invited to stop by at any time while the fair is going on to learn about and comment on a range of transportation issues and ideas at Western. The fair, with a theme of “Your Voice Matters – Come, Learn & Participate,” is being hosted by Western’s Transportation Planning Initiatives Task Force. Light refreshments and door prizes will be available. “Input from visitors to the fair is being actively sought. This is an opportunity to let us know about your ideas and concerns about transportation at Western,” said Dale Monroe, Task Force chair. At the fair, visitors will be able to write their comments on posters available for that use. Comments can also be sent via e-mail to Dale.Monroe@wwu.edu. All comments received will be considered by the Task Force as it reviews Western’s transportation needs and prepares its report. Participants at the fair will include: WWU Transportation and Parking; Whatcom Transportation Authority; Associated Students Transportation Advisory Committee; WWU Alternative Transportation; Western’s Daytime Shuttle; WWU Environmental Health & Safety, and Western’s Sustainability and Central Health and Safety committees. Information from a report on Western by Dan Burden, a nationally recognized authority on bicycle and pedestrian facilities and programs, will also be available. For disability accommodations, please contact Carol Berry, WWU Alternative Transportation coordinator, at 650-7960. |
