For disability accommodations, please contact the Western Box Office at the number above or (800) 998-2372. “This American Life” premiered on Chicago’s public radio station WBEZ in 1995 and is now heard on more than 500 public radio stations each week by at least 1.7 million listeners. Glass documents contemporary American culture through narratives and pinpoints the unusual in everyday life. His CD was named one of the best of 1999 by Amazon.com. “With the rise of more and more forms of media, the American storytelling tradition has become increasingly fractured,” wrote reviewer Randy Silver. “Praise be then for ‘This American Life,’ a weekly radio anthology of stories that never fail to move even the most casual listener.” Glass began his public radio career in 1978, at the age of 19, as an intern at National Public Radio’s Washington Headquarters. For the next 17 years, he worked on nearly every NPR news show and did every production job available, including tape cutter, desk assistant, newscast writer, editor, producer, reporter and substitute host.
