WWU Dance Lab Presents Performances on June 3-4

5/6/2005

BELLINGHAM – Western Washington University’s Dance Lab series presents a Mary Sheldon Scott/Jarrad Powell Performance at 8 p.m. Friday, June 3 and 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. on Saturday, June 4.

The performances will be at Western’s Dance Studio Theatre …Ving! located at 311 E. Holly St. in Bellingham. Tickets cost $5 for students, $10 for general admission, and are available at the Western Box Office, (360) 650-6146.

The performances include choreography by Mary Sheldon Scott and music by composer Jarrad Powell. Sheldon Scott’s choreography is highly technical and energetic as dancers contort their bodies into precarious positions and move across the stage creating hypnotic patterns. Powell’s music weaves lyrical and haunting images using voice, instrumental and electro-acoustic resources.

This is the final performance of the Dance Lab series presented by Western’s dance program. The series, in its inaugural season, showcases choreographers, dancers and musicians throughout the Pacific Northwest, providing a forum for artists and audiences to explore the new horizons of dance.
