Description: Steamer "Evangel" at Semiahmoo, J.W. Tarte, Captain. Note on negative: Jim Tarte - Master. Built in 1882, the "Evangel" ran aground many times and was dismasted once. While at Sehome in 1891, her boiler exploded, killing three people. She sank at anchor in Port Angeles in 1894, but was raised and repaired.
